Seminar on managing Financial Risks at Cochin

Updated information and knowledge of various available tools to effectively handle and manage the foreign exchange risks as well as credit risks involved in international trade are essential to compete in the fierce competitive international market, said Mr. P. J. Thomas, Dy. General Manager of SBI’s Overseas Branch.

While inaugurating a Seminar on "Foreign Exchange and Credit Risk Management - Emerging Trends" jointly organized by the Southern Region office of FIEO and Kerala State Export Development Council (KEREXIL) on 8th May at Cochin, Mr. Thomas advised the exporters to make use of the tools available to safeguard against volatility in exchange rate in consultation with their bankers.

His colleague Mr. Ramesh Antony Joseph, who is the Chief Manager with the bank, made a presentation on ‘Export Finance’ covering various products offered by SBI under export finance to the exporters. He also spoke about Gold Card scheme and FCNR loans offered by the bank. State Bank of India (Overseas Branch) had sponsored the event.

KEREXIL Director Mr. Yoonus Kunjuon on his part advised the exporters to draw on various incentives announced under new supplement to Foreign Trade Policy for the products which have high export potential in the State of Kerala.

Later, separate presentations on ‘Foreign Exchange Risk Management’, ‘Export Credit Risk Policies’ and ‘Export Credit Risk Analysis’ were respectively made by
