Whatever be
the quality, a product or a service will not sell if it is not presented
well in the market. It will also not sell if the company fails to
communicate and convince about its product or service in the market – be
it domestic or international market. FIEO’s Northern Region Chairman Dr.
R. K. Dhawan made above observations while inaugurating a two-day training
programme on "Improving Presentation and Communication Skills" at
Niryat Bhawan on 6th September.
This was the
sixth training programme organised by FIEO on the subject. Like every
earlier market-specific programme, this programme focused on customized
communication skills required for the EU market. The programme covered all
sets of communication skills - verbal, non-verbal, business letter writing,
public speaking, cross-cultural communications etc. Faculties to the
programme were drawn from Fortune Institute of International Business (FIIB),
Delhi.

According to
Dr. Dhawan, communication is much more important in international market
where buyers have more options in terms of quality and price. During oral
communications, he said, one should make effective use of visual aids,
maintain adequate eye contact, ensure clarity in pronunciation and fluency,
maintain proper speed of presentation, make use of voice modulation
to avoid monotony, make use of good posture and body movements expressing
confidence, seek and make use of visual feedback, and lastly, but very
importantly, should note down important points arising out of discussions.
In fact, the whole purpose of communication is to get those important points
resulting in decisions, he added. |

highlighted how communication skills were providing competitive edge in
today’s global market witnessing cross-country mergers, acquisitions and
takeovers. "A very competitive business proposition may be lost if not
promoted and presented to the customers properly," he observed.
