The integration of information and communication technologies has revolutionized the modus operandi of any business, so much so that today almost every international trader across the world is setting up his virtual office on the internet. In the fast changing global economic setup, e-commerce and e-business are becoming key components of business strategy, which not only ensure greater interaction with customers but also help reduce operational costs. FIEO’s Northern Region Chairman Dr R. K. Dhawan said this at a programme organized by FIEO on "Use of Internet for Sourcing Buyers" on February 28 at New Delhi.

According to Dr Dhawan, internet has become a part of our lives as integral as a cell phone. "New generation people can not think of a business without Internet. During the last seven years from 2000 to 2007, global internet usage has grown by around 266%, which is slated to grow manifold in the years of to come." He said.

An IIFT Professor Mr. O. P. Wali also thinks that internet has become an international marketing tool. Speaking at this progra-mme, he said internet has helped even the smallest of the companies to access buyers, which hitherto remained in the exclusive access domain of select companies. He enlightened the participants on how to reach international buyers with the help of various internet search engines.
