EUPEA; Mr. Enrico Ruhle, Managing Director, TUV Rheinland (India) P.
Ltd., and Mr. Chandranath Som, Jt. Director, FIEO(NR). |
FIEO’s
Northern Region Chairman advises exporters to adopt best business practices
besides a series of other strategies like diversification of markets and
products to sustain their prenance in the fiercely competitive international
market.
Welcoming the
participants at a seminar on "Quality Certification: An Imperative for
Sustenance in International Market and the Steps for Achieving it"
organized by FIEO at Varanasi on 3rd February, Dr. Dhawan advised the
exporters to instal quality systems in their organizations to maximize their
operating profits through optimization of business processes, continued
supply of quality products and services to the clients and thus earning
customers’ delight. He shared his dreams with the participants saying he
was keen to see Varansi as a model export hub of our country where all the
FIEO members took to quality certification.
Referring to
rupee appreciation, Dr. Dhawan said it had badly hit the competitiveness of
Indian exports and exporters were afraid to enter into long-term contracts
with their buyers, casting shadows over the future of the country’s
export. As there is no sign of early stabilization of rupee vis-ŕ-vis US
dollars in view of slowdown in US economic growth coupled with subprime
crisis, the government should take some drastic steps to prevent the country’s
future export prospects becoming grim, added Dr. Dhawan"
Mr. Mukesh
Agrawal, President EUPEA (Eastern UP Exporters Association) also exhorted
Varanasi based exporters to go ahead with quality systems installation and
requested the UP Government to enhance the grant for quality certification
from the present 50% to 75% in view of the hardships being faced by the
exporting community. He made a beginning by announcing the decision of EUPEA
to implement ISO quality systems in their organisation. Speaking further, he
requested the Government to provide grants to the merchant exporters for
installing quality systems.
Mr. V B Vahan,
Joint Director (Industries), Govt. of Uttar Pradesh also urged the exporters
of the region to go for quality systems installation and assured them all
required support for the purpose. Meanwhile, he urged FIEO to organize
similar awareness programme at Bhadohi.
Managing
Director of an ISO certification body, TUV Rheinland (India) P. Ltd., Mr.
Enrico Ruhle assured that his organization would work closely with the
exporters of the region to help them implement quality systems at reasonable
costs and with minimum fuss.
