FIEO’s Eastern Region Office concludes its first EDP course

The first EDP course organized by the Eastern Region office of FIEO in collaboration with Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata was concluded on 24th March. The course had started on 14th March.

In total, 14 students from various backgrounds joined the course. The students comprised of a practicing CA, senior executives from export houses and exporters.

Faculties included academicians from IIFT, professionals from various fields and officers from Zonal Jt. DGFT office in Kolkata. Dr. Gautam Datta, Professor, IIFT, Kolkata was the course programmer while Mr. P T Srinath, Dy. Director, FIEO (ER) was the course coordinator.

Students attending the course sought a balance between theoretical classes and practical case studies. They evinced greater interests in subjects like finance, arbitration and WTO compliances.

Earlier, while inaugurating the course, Mr. Pravin Saraf, Managing Committee member of FIEO, highlighted the importance of export trade in earning foreign exchange for the country. Presiding over the valedictory session on 24th March, he expressed hope that the students would soon go on to be independent exporters on their own.

Dr. K Rangarajan, Head, Kolkata Centre of IIFT, hoped that the course would help working executives in meaningfully contributing towards promoting exports of their respective companies.

The Intensive Certificate course of tie inaugural day is in progress.
